Guest post by Wendy Hemphill / edited by Paula Hemphill Ever feel a little overwhelmed in your role as a Child Ambassador? Wendy Hemphill, a member of both the Leadership Team and the Prayer Team, joins us on the blog today to to share how the Lord uniquely equips each of us to speak out on behalf of His beloved children around the world. Being a Child Ambassador takes faith and trust in Him and a heart that is ready to embrace His call! Read along to learn about Wendy's journey as a CA. You have to believe who you were created to be. When pregnant with our first child, both my husband, Kim, and I felt so unqualified to take on this gargantuan task of parenting. Neither of our training or experience had us feeling confident. After all, Kim's father was nonexistent. He felt a tad overwhelmed and so did I. But the fact was: we were soon to be parents and my belly proved it. The LORD would get us through one day at a time. He would teach us from His book of wisdom the next step we needed to take. The same is true of all of the other callings in our lives. Each of us have many. I am a woman, a mom, a teacher, and the list goes on. I have been created with special gifts and desires. I am FIRST an Ambassador of Christ. He gives me all that I need to spread His truth about rescue and love to the least loved of the earth. He sends me to the broken and oppressed, because it is here that He Himself is found working. It's a Divine partnership. I am a Child Ambassador and I was long before I was ever given the title by World Vision. From early on in my faith, my heart was toward rescuing children. My mentor was George Mueller: one of the greatest child rescuers of his day. Mr. Mueller lived during the 1800's in Bristol, England. His ministry cared for over 10,000 orphans. And although I was born many decades after his death, he mentored me through the pages of the books others wrote about him. He inspired me to be an ambassador for children. A Child Ambassador is a representative voice for the children who have no voice in this world. Our interests are for their well-being and protection. We initiate and facilitate agreements between compassionate hearts and the hearts of precious children in need. I must embrace each of these callings. I must believe them. I was not called to any of these because I was qualified. Quite the contrary. He loves to call the unqualified so that HE can move the work along His way and for His glory. To be a successful Child Ambassador as the LORD sees success, you must KNOW that you are called to it by Him. You were created with your own personal qualities to do your specific work. It's an ongoing task. You learn and grow daily. As a "rookie" you may feel very incompetent, and you are. But you will grow in knowledge as you take the time to fill your mind and heart with your subject matter of marginalized KIDS. Your biggest obstacle is YOU. You have to embrace who you are. It hasn't been easy, but it's been worthy work. I AM a Child Ambassador. Others may doubt it, but I know it. Comments are closed.
