Meet Dee Billing!
She is such a remarkable woman and a brilliant story-teller, so I'm going to let her tell her story herself:
Dee, can you tell us a little bit about your family:
Personally, I have raised 12 children. I adopted five Native American children who grew "into my heart". While I had four biological sons who grew "under my heart". I also had the privilege of raising two granddaughters. I always wanted to have a lot of children, and as you can see God certainly took advantage of that. For obvious reasons children are of great importance to me. Which is why WV is a "perfect fit"!
I love being a CA. I am passionate about World Vision. I have been a CA since the very beginning of the program, but I have loved WV ever since I saw the Korean Orphan Choir way back when!
I have had the privilege of traveling with WV to Zambia, Mexico, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Ecuador and currently sponsor 13 children.
Which scripture/quote gives you encouragement in this ministry?
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalm 23
This Scripture means a great deal to me as a CA. I think of Jesus as my Good Shepherd Who goes before me. All I do is follow! The Lord is my Shepherd... I will follow... Even when I walk through the Valley of No's I will not fear for His goodness and mercy will follow me! Amen and Amen!
Is there a bit of encouragement you could give to other CA's?
I have a "Bucket List". At 80 years of age I would like to connect at least 1000 children to sponsors before the Lord calls me to Himself. To me it seems impossible, but our God is a Big God! Never forget how big God is and what He can do through His people.
